From the corner freestyles and block parties to mixtapes and showcases. New York City Keyz has been making that music that, for years now, the games been missing. Born and raised in Corona, NY, I was influenced by my brother and his friends( who at the time were writing and producing their own joints) to write my first rhyme at the age of 9. After that I thought to myself " This is gonna be the start of something big". It was a pretty rough lyrics for a young kid going to a catholic school but ,none the less, you could hear my pain and struggles. And to me, in the early 90's, that is what the music was about, the pain and the struggle. Soon after I began writing, I formed a group called Hawd Kaw( Hard Core ) which was later changed to T.M.A.( Two Man Army ). Together, we were like a young dynamic duo kicking some hip hop ass. We did the freestyle battles, the hooky parties, block parties, even, the school i went to let us perform on a stage in front of the whole school for a retiring teacher. We were like 10 or 11 but, for lil' youngsters we did our thing. They were really feelin' us and to see the people react like that to something we made, I knew from that point I knew this is what to do 'move the crowd and to keep the people entertained' and for year thats what we did. Things were going good for us. We were writing rhymes during the day, laying tracks down at night, and getting money in between. For school, I went to went to St. John's Prep. in Astoria, Queens for only a few months due to money issues. I later wound up in one of the most dangerous schools in Queens, Newtown High School. Dudes in there a'int believe in fair fights and the school didn't employ security guards, they had cops inside patrolling the school and with no metal detector, it was crazy in there. But I liked, I felt like in order for me to be great this is were i had to be. Newtown had the pain and the struggles that I was used to and I put all that down on paper and made f@%kin' poetry but we call them 'songs'. To fast forward a little bit, I got locked up for a few weeks, and while being locked up things got crazy in mom's crib, so when i came home I had to leave quick fast. Thats when I moved to East New York, Brooklyn to live with my brother and his girl for a while. Since moving to E.N.Y., I had reunited with some friends from my childhood, they were chasing the same dream, they called themselves P.O.E.( Pop Off Entertainment). Living out there I was about to see a side of pain and struggles i was preparing my whole life for, the shootings, constant murders, and police raids. In Corona, things were real, in E.N.Y., things were wild, but I used all that negativity and heartache and try to let y'all the public hear our truth and our stories. I survived 9 years in E.N.Y. before i recently moved back to Queens. I started producing about a year so now I use my own beats, no more waiting for people to look out for me. I went out and got it on my own and did it on my own. And let this a lesson for all those dream chasers out there "NEVER WAIT AND DEPEND ON SOMEONE ELSE TO MAKE YOUR DREAMS COME TRUE".
