About Paula Dellenback

Ararat, VA

Paula comes from the musically rich area of south west Virginia. Her home is located near the state's heritage music trail, "The Crooked Road". Her musical background began with various local gospel bands, singing and playing bass guitar. Yearning to play the acoustic guitar, she began taking lessons from Josh Pickett, the youngest person to ever win the coveted Doc Watson Guitar Competition at Merle Fest. Being an avid bluegrass picker himself, Josh sparked her interest in this traditional style of music. With her driving energy and dynamic vocal style she plunged head first into the exciting world of bluegrass. Almost immediately she entered singing, band, and songwriting competitions. In her first vocal recital, she received a superior rating by the National Federation of Music. Her second original song, "Jar Gap", won the Ralph Epperson Award for the most “stand out original song”. Playing strong rhythm guitar, and singing much of the lead and harmony vocals with Fox River, Paula is an integral part of the Band's unique style. Her love for this beautiful music is inspiring her to continue full force ahead into her new musical career.
