Energetic. Raw. Real. The new album by Paul Nash, entitled “Crossing the Line” gives his fans a dose of country twang coupled with some rock-n-roll . It’s a musical expression of Americana living at its finest. Growing up, Paul Nash listened to a mix of rock and country including Hank Williams, Willie Nelson, Johnny Cash, Metallica, Ratt, and Motley Crue. This blend of masculine influences is evident in his music and his life. From hunting and fishing to competitive sports training and motorcycle racing, Paul brings all these traits forward in his gutsy, rock-infused country music. Born and raised in Vancouver, Canada, Paul developed and nurtured his musical skills from an early age playing various musical instruments including the keyboard, guitar and saxophone. His affinity for music was strongly encouraged by his musically inclined mother and grandmother and entrepreneur father. After performing with many Vancouver-based bands, Paul formed his own band that won a “Battle of the Bands” contest leading to his recording two songs at Little Mountain Studios in Canada.
Paul spent a good deal of his adolescent years with his father and grandfather outdoors, learning how to fish and later hunt. Those early earthy lessons are reflected back in the country roots of his new album, including the song Stay Tonight that he co-wrote with Mike Krompass and Chad Gendason. A special highlight on the album is the cover of the Gregg Allman hit “I’m No Angel” which features a duet with Rebecca Lynn Howard. “This stuff has it's own special niche. It's real country with rock power to use a polite word. Those who know me feel my animal spirit is “The Wolf.” My voice comes through in long, powerful resonating notes that pierce the heart and soul when heard... Like a Wolf, I’m friendly with an air of dangerous and wild at the same time.“ “My look is my own blend of rebel country/rock. I have been deeply influenced by Kid Rock, Hank Wiliams Jr., The Highwaymen, The Four Horsemen, Billy Idol, Jim Morrison, Toby Keith, Elvis Presley, Johnny Cash, James Hetfield of Metallica, just to name a few. “ “I’m an extreme living musician, an adrenaline junkie. I want everyone who comes see my concerts or meets me to feel the same adrenaline and energy. I want people to feel extremely energized, and unified when I sing to them. I want to move them for the greater good and get them energized.” The new album “Crossing the Line” will be available for summer 2011.
