The Journey Began 40 Years Ago. The HISTORY: It was 1970, during the heydays of the old Detroit Folk Scene, when Peter Olach launched his music career. He was most fortunate to have the opportunity to partner-up with Richard Sonier, an exceptional finger style guitarist who brought the alchemy and magic of Olde English Balladry to the concert stage. Detroit, Toronto, Montreal, Ottawa, Halifax, Boston, Chicago, Nashville, Ann Arbor, Marquette, Miami. Over the next fifteen years, these were just some of the cities who offered a stage for his music, sometimes as a duo, on a few occasions there was a band, but most important was the audience; those incredible souls who came to hear and support original music - the music of Peter Olach. In His Own WORDS: I am continually amazed by the course one's life might take. My journey has brought me full circle and back to a place that I find so rewarding, the place where my heart belongs - the Creation and Performance of MUSIC. I've also come to the realization that I am a work in progress and shall remain a lifelong learner in all aspects of the human experience. Truth be told, I have this old habit of chronicling life's experiences with words and song. Hope you don't mind. In fact, I hope you find my current musical journey most enjoyable, somehow familiar to your heart and soul. For those of you who play a stringed instrument, my guitar style is loosely based upon the mountain dulcimer including a two-string drone. I just happen to have more strings and frets than my mountain brethren do. The songs from 2009 were recorded last year in Miami during a two-hour studio session with my good friend, Gary Vandy manning the sound desk. All single takes and no overdubs (I am not adverse to lush production, just didn't have the budget at the time). The songs from 2010 were recorded on my Mac with a USB mic. Gotta love digital technology. So, thanks for stopping by. Let me know if hear something you like. And, let's stay in touch. . .
