I was born and raised in, New Haven, Connecticut, where I lived the first 13 years of my life. Was brought up in the church, and church is where I learned that music was going to be a part of me till I die. Started off as a member of the youth choir, then as the drummer, then I became the churches full time drummer for church services, events, and adult choir. Then I moved to North Carolina at 14, started high school and that’s when I started to rap. I never did any battle rapping in high school, to me I felt like that was a waist of time and breath. I use to write lyrics during school after I finished work, at home before I went outside to play, at night before I went to bed, and nobody really knew that rapping was a passion of mine, all they knew that I was an athlete. Once I graduated from high school in 1999, I didn’t pursue any of my career goals. I went straight to the Army after high school, and where I really got to learn about myself and life. But when I went to the military, I pushed music to the side and sort of lost motivation to rap. When I was released from the military in 2001 at the age of 20, I still wasn’t motivated to rap again and that's when I started having run-ins with the law. Then I met Barney Alston through a friend of mines and little did I know the motivation was going to come back through him. Barney and I had become good friends and then I found out that he made beats. At the time it wasn’t a big deal to me, until one day I was at his house and he had made a beat in like 3 minutes and told me to freestyle. At first I was like naw, then he finally got me to do it, and I remember just feeling the beat and I started to spit. He was like “DAMN SON”, he didn’t know I had flow like that. Then Barney had moved to Philly and that’s when I started making beats. I was working on beats and rhymes constantly, but to no luck opportunities just wasn’t coming my way. So I decided to push music aside again and pursue my dream to play basketball, so I enrolled at Mount Olive College. I tried out for the JV team at the college, made the team, became the go-to-guy on the JV team, and met my daughters’ mother. But my pursuit of hoop dreams would quickly end the following season. After having a great season statistically, I thought that I would be moved to the varsity squad, but to my surprise they wanted me to play another season on JV, so I didn’t play that season and dropped out that following semester. At this time it was 2005 and I was 24, still trying to find my calling, so I started writing raps again, and I haven’t looked back since. What has kept me motivated since then has been the birth of my daughter, my brother finally getting out of jail and staying out of trouble, the maturity and growth of my rap style, and just the opportunity God has given me to still be living my life.
