As the time draws closer to the return of Christ, J.Spence blurred the lines between the streets and the church. Introduced to the world through L.O.C.'s "Let's Wage War", Spence quickly became one of the most popular artists in the city of buffalo, partially because of his spiritual, piercing rhyming and partially because he was part of one of the most powerful churches in western new york. In 2006, Spence set out to complete his debut project entitled "The Great Commission" after being inspired by the gospel according to Luke, chapter 24, when Jesus gave instruction to go out into the streets and preach the good news. Spence decided to take the good news and reach the streets in a way that is most popular among his peers. An approach that was not supported as well by the church at large, but yet very effective for where he felt God led him to go. On January 27th, 2007, The Great Commission was released in Buffalo, New York at the True Bethel Baptist Church. Selling over 2000 records that night alone, The Great Commission quickly became an album of choice for those in the area of western new york. Being more impressed with souls than his is with record sales, 2008 looks to be in for more of a "Pentecostal" experience. Look for Spence to release his second spirit filled album "Pentecost: The Movement" late 2008
