This isn’t so much a biography as it is a story of my family who came to this country without a penny in their pockets. My mom and dad struggled and worked hard to get us to where we are today. If you can imagine escaping from a small communist island in the middle of the Caribbean. Just getting out to make a better life for your family was the only thing that crossed their minds. My parents really didn't care about what laid ahead as long as they got out of Cuba and Castro’s hold on their lives. If it took dying for us than that’s what it took. To this day I have always been afraid of flying and I never knew why until one day I heard my mother telling my wife a story about how when I was a child war planes would fly over our home and the noise would scare me. She would take me to the airport every day so I could get use to the planes. When I heard that story I wasn't surprised because that’s the kind of thing my parents would do for us. I have so much respect for my folks because if it wasn’t for them I wouldn’t be in the greatest country in the world with the greatest people in the world. From the time I was a small child I was exposed to music and art thanks to my dad Rolando Sr. who was the most incredible artist I’ve ever known. We lived in a town called Huntington Park California where my mother and father still live. I remember when we first moved there, we were the only Hispanic family on the block until finally another Cuban family moved there and I met my best friend Reynaldo Ruiz AKA Junior (May he rest in peace). At the age of six I played the piano for the first time. A piano they bought my sister Roxanna who really didn’t like playing it, but she still went through the whole piano lesson thing. I took to it naturally. When I was about 12 years old I wrote my first song and that was it, I haven’t stop writing since. Then at age 35 I got this cool art job and move to an apartment building right across the street.. There I met the love of my life Lucy and her two kids David and Daniel. Recently I went into a pretty cool studio in Hollywood and started recording my first real project called In My World. I owe it all to Lucy for inspiring me and showing me that life always gets better with time, and that you always have to make an effort to change for the better.
