Biography

Roy sunak, trumpet player and composer, was born in Israel in 1978. At the age 10 he started to play keyboard and at the age 12 he started playing the trumpet in Yehud conservatory. Roy graduated at the Thelma Yellin School for arts in jazz faculty. Roy sunak, trumpet player and composer, was born in Israel in 1978. At the age 10 he started to play keyboard and at the age 12 he started playing the trumpet in Yehud conservatory. Roy graduated at the Thelma Yellin School for arts in jazz faculty. When he finished high school he was selected to service in the IDF military band, and was requested to service his last half year as leader and soloist in the Air Force band. In 1998 he won the America-Israel cultural foundation award. He continued his musical studies at Rimon College supported with full scholarship and represent Israel at the Costa Rica International Jazz Festival for Music Colleges. From then on, Roy had the chance to play in different festivals; "the red sea jazz festival", Tel – Aviv jazz festival, Spring festival, Carmiel festival. He also played for 5 years in Tel – Aviv Big Band where he also featured as a soloist. Roy had the honor to perform with the amazing Bob Moses and New York Voices. He play in Roy Oliel's sextet that recently recorded their first album, played with "Hadag Nachash" (hip-hop), Efrat Gosh (rock music), and a member in "La Banda" and "Corazon Latino" of Perla Malcus (Latin). Roy has collaborated with different bands playing diverse styles with a variety of Israeli artists and bands such as: Hagit Goldenberg, Daniel Koren (in whose album he played), Danni Litany, Nurit Galron, Ioni Bloch and more. In addition he played in musicals (Ramat Gan Theatre and Cameri Theatre). Recently he wrote music for a 48 hours film, recorded duo original music of his and Daniel Meron, piano player, and produced a new project- "SABORES" with the musicians Isai Chacon (Spain) - guitar & singing, Guy Bartor- bass and Hagar Cnaan - dance. In these days Roy leads his own band in NYC and collaborate with various musicians in differents styles. During his activity as a composer, he focuses in searching for fusion between jazz and various European music as Spanish, Gypsy and Italian.
