Ruby Jane, born in Dallas, Texas, is a fifteen year-old fiddle prodigy, and a fast rising star in American music today. She has been a bandleader since the age of ten in her own band called “The Ruby Jane Show” which not only features her amazing fiddling but her mature songwriting, multi-instrumentality, and entertaining stage show. She is immersed in and influenced by classical, jazz, swing, country, and blues. Ruby Jane exhibited a strong connection to music as early as age one and began classical violin instruction at age two. She began old-time fiddle lessons at age eight, which included the study of its unique bowing techniques, and archaic tunings. After only six fiddle lessons, she won first place in the first fiddle competition she entered, beginning a run of victories, state championships, and increasing no that notoriety that continues today. By age ten, Ruby Jane acted in her second film, contributed an original song to a film soundtrack, performed as the youngest invited fiddler in the history of the Grand Ole Opry, In 2006 alone, media outlets and programs including the CBS Evening News, American Airlines In-Flight “Eye on America” News, Christian Science Monitor, W magazine, British Vogue, The New York Times, The Los Angeles Times, and award-winning publications in Russia and Australia have featured stories about Ruby Jane. She has graced many music magazine covers, most recently the August issue of “Country Line“ magazine. She has performed with Lyle Lovett, Big and Rich, Johnny Gimble, Marty Stuart, and regularly with Willie Nelson, and countless country, swing, and bluegrass stars. She has been the focus of several documentaries on music, most recently featured in one about Willie Nelson‘s life. Ruby Jane spent this summer filming in Los Angeles starring in a new tv pilot, “Swinghouse,” which showcases her music and her acting abilities. With deep familial and cultural ties throughout the South, especially Mississippi, she resides in Austin, TX, with her mama, when not traveling as a musician, actress, or model.
