Born and raised in Louisiana, Rufus Pipes was destined to be a musician. With the diverse and cultural music scene in Louisiana, and a musical family to back him up, Rufus began singing in a church as a young boy. It didn't take long before people started to realize his unique talent. At the tender age of ten, Rufus joined his cousins in an all male R&B/Gospel group - the youngest of the four members. The group gained recognition by performing at church, weddings, family get togethers, and talent shows. This was the time that Rufus cultivated into a musician from the help of his older cousins, and learned to sing harmonies and lead vocals. By the time Rufus turned sixteen, he was offered a football scholarship to a highschool in Arizona. Happily accepting, Rufus moved to the desert to pursue a football career. Still singing in choir, Rufus was uncertain whether to pursue music or football. As destiny always takes it's course, music chose Rufus as he recieved a knee injury that would put him out of football for good. Realizing that music was what his soul desired, Rufus Pipes began writing his own songs and hooking up with local producers. It wasn't long before he crossed paths with Jasmine DeLaPaz (owner of Sounds Of The Soul Records). The two instantly hit it off and joined forces to create an album. Rufus Pipes is currently working on his debut album while still in school studying Fashion Design. This album is an expression of his life, and is meant to create a vibe to all listeners that music touches the soul of not only the musician, but also to the listener.
