Saudade is a one-man project that has been the creative outlet (or maybe it is better to say "therapeutic outlet") for Todd Durrant, the owner of the electronic pop label A Different Drum (www.adifferentdrum.com). Saudade is a one-man project that has been the creative outlet (or maybe it is better to say "therapeutic outlet") for Todd Durrant, the owner of the electronic pop label A Different Drum (www.adifferentdrum.com). I spent all of my spare time as a teenager in the 80's writing songs and recording music on an old Roland JX-8P synthesizer, a couple drum machines, and a 4-track cassette recorder. The songs were never released to the public, for obvious reasons-- they were very amatuer. But the love of pop music evolved into a full-time job as an adult. Devotion to the music business meant that any of my own music had to be left behind, as the focus turned to the promotion and marketing of more talented musicians. As the independent music business has become more stressful, I found it necessary to spend at least a few minutes, every now and then, working directly with the creative process again. That usually involved remixes of songs by other bands, helping with lyrics and song writing for other artists, and stepping in with other creative feedback. Recently, I've decided to revisit some of my old songs, as well as writing some new ones, just for fun.
