FOR FREE EXCLUSIVE DOWNLOADS CHECK OUT WWW.REVERBNATION.COM/SECTION13 Why Section13? When DJ Pelt, So’Real & Log!c got together in the winter end of 1996 they, like most new groups, struggled to find a name that represented them & their music. Being the type of HipHop collective that wanted to make music with a message, it made the naming process that more difficult. We felt that with the mood of our music, the social & political undertones & of course the varied soundscapes, the name would need to be more than just a title. I mean, this was our baby! We wanted our new child to stand for something & grow into something more... The baby part of our conversation was the catalyst for a lightbulb moment. While doing some research into births in this country, So’ Real found a little known law in the UK. When a child is born in this country, you have 6 weeks to register it. As far as the government are concerned, after those 6 weeks are up, that baby does not exist. Even though it’s a living, breathing mini human being. Basically, unless the powers that be know who you are, you are nothing... This bothered us, because even 6 weeks after you are born, you are made to conform to regulations. This is Section13 of the Births & Deaths Act 1973. We imagined our collective as a new born baby... waiting to find it’s place without being boxed into a demographic that suited the institutions that run the country. We wanted our group to be the child that refused to follow the norm... that stayed away from ticking those boxes... we wanted to represent the unconventional thinking that would appose such a rule... so people that were feeling our vibe could be more than just fans, but actually be part of a movement... We want Section13 to be synonymous with going against the grain. Making good music without sacrificing intelligent thought... Lyrical content & subject matters being equally as important as dope beats. So when you hear us, you know you’ll be feeding your brain as well as hearing good music. Stay Tuned...Don’t Sleep...
