Donnie Wilson is a native of Southeastern, MA, and at 40 years old, he is making his first return to writing, recording, and performing in over 13 years. A successful career in the mortgage industry, ten great years of marriage, and three wonderful children later, the timing was finally right to pick up the acoustic guitar and stretch out the vocal chords again. His new music is being recorded with his new band, SEDATED ECHO, highlighted by seasoned guitarist, engineer, and producer, Alex Krepkikh. Bassist, Joe Calise, and drummer Vinny Pagano, round out the live line up. The new CD consists of catchy, powerful, acoustic guitar driven rock, with a classic, yet contemporary edge. Wilson's vocal style has been compared to Jon Bon Jovi and the late Brad Delp from the band BOSTON. Donnie can still scream the high stuff as heard in the 1st track, “Strong”, a song inspired by the book, “The Secret” and the effect it’s had on his life. But, he can also bring it down to a soulful whisper like in “Blueberry Eyes”, a song written about the emotions of being a dad. The lyrics are close to the heart, and every song starts on the acoustic guitar. “I’m an acoustic guitarist, but I love the sound of layering electric guitars and vocal harmonies. Alex and I built each track based on the mood, feel, and message of the song.” From songs like "Grateful", inspired by his appreciation for his relationship with his wife, to "Cry Baby", which was written to release his true feelings about an awful betrayal in life; you get hit with every emotion. Wilson's mission with his music is now defined by the birth of his son, Jacob in 2009 when he was born with CHD (a Congenital Heart Defect). This inspired the single, "Super Hero Fantasy" (the final track on SEDATED ECHO) that is being acclaimed by many as the anthem for CHD awareness, especially in the world of heart families. Wilson created Jacob’s Fund, which donates the profits from “Super Hero Fantasy” and other fund-raising activities to CHD research at Children's Hospital Boston. The band name, SEDATED ECHO is derived from the term, ‘sedated echocardiogram’, which is a test that almost all CHD babies need on a regular basis. Whether Wilson is performing solo, as a duo, or as a full rock band, he will always use the name SEDATED ECHO, and it will always mark Wilson's desire to help others who are following the same path as his son.
