Biography

I was born In Tehran, Iran and I moved to Washington D.C. (USA) with my family in the late 1980s. While still in high school, I started singing in a band called "Setareh". I was born In Tehran, Iran and I moved to Washington D.C. (USA) with my family in the late 1980s. While still in high school, I started singing in a band called "Setareh". As time went on I joined another band called "Mask". We continued working and doing shows all along the east coast until I was asked by a fellow musician/family friend to move to Los Angeles in pursuit of a more professional music career. Long story short, after moving to Los Angeles I was introduced to one of the most famous music industry producers in the Persian market, Mr. Shahbal Shabpareh, by my good friend and musician David Betsamo - and the rest is history! Soon after joining the famous group "Silouettt" I did my first album called "Beauty and the Beat" and I started touring the world and doing concerts for a good while after that. In the early 2000s I decided to go solo, so I did my next album called "Girl in the Mirror" as a solo artist with producer Ramin Zamani. As I continued to grow more and more as a woman and as a solo artist, I pushed to do more of the kind of music that spoke my own truth and project an image that displayed more of a strong, sexy, proud, yet independent Persian woman, breaking away from the previously perceived Persian female image that has always been the victim throughout Iran's post-Islamic history!!! So I did what any sane artist in my position would have done! I found myself the hottest, baddest, most renowned Persian industry producer - Schubert Avakian - famous for his edge in music, incredible melodies, and rocking grooves. I had at last found someone with the same taste in music that also shared my view of doing something off the charts. The product of our joint efforts was the album called "No Fear" and indeed I shed all my fears and took a huge chance on the sound and the new image I portrayed. Our project was a success! Now I make music that comes from my heart and live my life as an artist no longer bound by any taboo. I am a part of all the proud and strong Persian women who stand their ground for our right to show the world we are not less than any man and can do all they do and more!!! I continue working with Schubert Avakian and producing music like my latest works "Faseleh" and “Mimiram”. Stay tuned for my next album coming soon called "No Regrets"!
