“My life is the written scripture let me read from the book...” In the beginning the year was One Thousand Nine Hundred and Seventy Seven; the Gods reversed themselves, the two sevens clashed and chaos reigned supreme. Every heart, soul, home, and city where the righteous dwelled bore the blood stained mark of injustice. They were the chosen and it was their cries that gave birth to a nation; they named her Hip-Hop. Meanwhile, 95°degrees due south in the heart of the City of Power an aged couple welcomed the impossible; and to them a boy was born. The youngest of 4, “Crowned” Steven Jenkins at birth, young SHATIFF at the age of 8 displayed the impeccable gift of maintaining rhymes over a beat without flaw. Then, unexpectedly fate stepped in, and to South Carolina young SHATIFF was sent. It was in South Carolina that SHATIFF learned to master his craft. At the age of 18, SHATIFF, began recording and sold approximately 4500 CDs out the trunk of his car. As his popularity increased so did his involvement in the back alley dealings of the S.C. underworld; and as fate would have it, SHATIFF reaped what he sowed and served several months in the bowels of a modern day Carolina camp. During his time in prison SHATIFF began to realize his priorities and centered his perspective on himself as an individual. This shift lead SHATIFF to return to his birthplace of Washington, DC; the beginning of it all. As President and CEO of SECC Music Group, SHATIFF’s skills as a business man and artist cannot be denied. His debut album, And Now Me…thunders the truths of a Southern Black Males Saga ©, laced with thoughts of family life to social atrocities. SHATIFF stands alone in comparison to any artist in Hip Hop. With his ferocious execution of thought provoking rhymes saturated with the artistry and substance of The Neo-Righteous Movement ©, this is SHATIFF … the walking secret.
