I write about what I live. Most of my songs are a direct result of the messes I make and the processes of cleaning them up. I have heard people say that they don’t generally write about a particular subject until they are on the other side of it and have learned their lessons. I tend to find myself smack in the middle of the junk when it wants to form into melody and lyrics. But the messes usually make for good stories…so I try to be thankful for the struggle.
