Sherrie McCrary - Christian Music Artist From the beautiful Peach State (Georgia), Sherrie was born a native of Atlanta. She discovered her musical talent at a very early age, and singing has always been her passion. Sherrie is an independent singer/songwriter who currently resides in the Metro Atlanta Area. Early in life she would emulate her favorite singers, but as the years have passed this vibrant soprano has developed a unique range and style of her own. When it comes to style, she adds her own flavor to the Contemporary Christian Music genre. Currently Sherrie is working on her first solo project entitled "Breakthrough". Her single "Because Of The Cross" was released the summer of 2010. Another featured song on the upcoming project is entitled "For the Rest of My Life", and it was aired on The 30 Minutes of Gospel Show, and WATC 57-Atlanta Live December 2009. Sherrie began singing at the very tender age of two, and from that very moment her family knew that singing was her gift from God. She loved performing and, her family became her very first audience as they fondly remember her singing "Mr. Big Stuff" who do you think you are! Her first platform began with the E.T. Kemp Children's Choir at Hunter Hill's A.M.E. Church under the leadership of the late Reverend Edmond T. Kemp. In her early teen years, she formed a R&B group where she performed in local talent shows, and showcases in her hometown. During her teen years, she joined the Templelite Gospel Choir and began traveling all over Georgia. Sherrie was known for her rendition of "Oh it is Jesus" as she blessed and touched the lives of many. The Tempelite's were known for their dramatic choreography and dynamic vocal styling winning the very first McDonald Gospelfest Choir Competition. In the late 80's, Sherrie attended Alabama State University where she studied Business Management, and vocal training. Because of her deep passion for music and performance, Sherrie jumped knee deep into the Music Department and began to sing with the University and Concert Choir. Not missing any opportunity to travel, she began to tour with the University Choir as they travel to places like Nashville, Cincinnati Ohio, and several other states entering into Choir Competitions with other State Colleges and Universities. She also formed a local group along with two other young ladies who also shared her love for music. They shared their ministry with local churches in Montgomery, Alabama and surrounding areas, and where known by their perfect three part harmony in the cover song "The City" by the Winnans. In Spring 88 she pledge Delta Omicron, Gamma Zeta Chapter where she became an active member of the Delta Omicron International Professional Music Fraternity. Later participating in chartering the very first Chapter of Delta Omicron at Morris Brown College. In 1990, Delta Omicron welcomed their very first members of the Gamma Beta Chapter. Sherrie is no stranger to lights, camera and action, because during her teen years she would sing in musicals with small acting roles. It didn't take long for her to realize that she had a brand new talent on the rise. In 2008, Sherrie auditioned and was selected for AMTC winter 2009 (Acting, Modeling, and Talent Competition) at the Gaylord Palms Resort in Orlando Florida. Among hundreds of contestants, her monologue was selected in the Top 40 Monologue Showcase. She also auditioned for the Inspirational Choir and was chosen to perform at the AMTC Awards Banquet Ceremony. In the fall of 2008, Sherrie was on her first movie set as an extra in the faith based Independent film "The Way Home" starring Dean Cain. Among the cast were Sonny Shroyer fondly remembered as "Enos" from the "Dukes Of Hazzard", Tom Nowicki from the film "The Code Conspiracy" (2001), and Brett Rice from "We Are Marshall" (2006). The Premier of this film was held at the Fox Theater in downtown Atlanta May 12, 2009. The release of "The Way Home" will be available October 2010. Not stopping there, in January of 2009 Sherrie landed a singing/acting role in the dynamic Gospel Stage Play "Don't Drive Momma Away" as mother Brown. She had her first debut on May 20, 2009 at the Woodruff Art Center in downtown Atlanta. Currently she is touring with Big Shirley Productions, and the first tour date starts May 1, 2010 in Dayton Ohio. Still wanting all that God has to offer, in 2010 Sherrie walked right into her destiny of landing a leading role in the Gospel Stage Play "True Love" of True Love Productions Inc. Later filming her first stage play Production which will be available on DVD in 2011. In 2010, Sherrie was also nominated for an Award in the drama/song category for the 6th Annual Agape Gospel Theater & Film Awards Show hosted by the dynamic Dr. Bobby Jones. During the Awards Ceremony, Sherrie had the awesome opportunity to be apart of a skit in honor of Ms. Vikki Winans. Also among the guest being honored was Ms.Vanessa Bell Armstrong. On August 8, 2010 Sherrie was a part of Rev. Production's first Talent Showcase at Union Station Mall. After a week of activities, Union Station Mall ended it's 30th Anniversary Celebration with a Gospel Concert. Sherrie was among one of the featured artist in the 2010 "PRAIZREVUE" Talent Showcase hosted by Miko Evans CEO of Rev. Productions. She debuted her new single "Because Of The Cross", and it will be aired on 'The Mid Georgia Gospel Fellowship Show". Because she is a willing vessel, Sherrie has allowed God to use her on many platforms. She was recently Nominated for "Female Vocalist Of The Year" at this years 2010 YGEA Awards Show held at Morehouse College on September 25,2010. Allowing God's glory to shine through her life, Sherrie realize that there is nothing to impossible for God! She has shared the stage with International Gospel Artist such as Dottie Peoples, James Bignan, Paster Shirley Caesar, and Vanessa Bell Armstrong, just to name a few. On December 9, 2009 she had the honor of singing the country's National Anthem at the Atlanta Hawks game downtown Atlanta's Phillips Arena. The game was aired live on ESPN. Sherrie has also made special television appearances on shows like WATC 57-Atlanta Live, The Mid Georgia Gospel Fellowship Show, The Terri Graham TV Show "Nothin Like Church Folks!", The Lance Boyd Radio and TV Show, The Antidote Show, and The 30 Minutes of Gospel Show. She has done Exclusive Interviews about project "Breakthrough", and has also shared her testimony on the "Honor and Glory Radio" with G- Wade, Rev. Productions "Exceptional Radio" Broadcast Show, "My Talk Radio with Radio Kam, and "Sound Doctrine" with Minister Kendal Richardson just to name a few. Making her way around Georgia, she has truly allowed God's glory to shine through her ministry. Sherrie has dedicated her ministry to unleashing the chains that have had so many people bound in hopelessness. Her captivating vocals are an inspiration of hope to people who are broken in spirit. By spreading the promises of God through the passion of her voice, her only prayer is to send a message that the world will be blessed and inspired by. It is important to Sherrie to be a voice in her community. She has been a light force to many who have lost hope. Being an over comer of many hard trials, Sherrie knows the importance of open arms. She currently serves as a volunteer with Partnership Against Domestic Violence where she is a Facilitator for the PADV Community Support Group. Having Volunteered on the Crisis Line and working in the shelter, Sherrie has taken a stand in reaching out and helping hurting women all over the world. Her ministry doesn’t stop there because you can find her at Youth Rally’s as well as serving the Senior Citizens in her community. Making a difference in her community has always been important, and giving hope is a driven passion. Her ministry is truly a gift from God uplifting all that fall under the sound of her voice. Sherrie knows that God is the source of her being. Her driven purpose is to give encouragement , and to let the world know that God is able. "Now unto him who is able to do exceeding aboundantly above all that we ask or think according to the power that worketh in us". (Ephesians 3:20) Sherrie has learned that the only way to release this power is through her praise and worship, and trusting that God is truly Able!
