Silversafe is a rock band based out of Portland, Oregon. Their blend of hard rock, alternative and progressive elements has garnered them a strong local following; averaging four to five shows a month across the Pacific Northwest, they are known for their high-energy, polished live performances. One critic describes them as “the next big thing to come out of Portland.” Silversafe formed in 2006. Frontman Jonny Davidson and bassist Cameron Silsbee (formerly of Portland rock band The Lemons) joined with drummer Tyler Chen and guitarist Gabe Kniffin (formerly of Vancouver, WA, rock band Redshift) to create Silversafe’s current lineup. They have played top venues and several festivals across the Northwest, as well as receiving airplay on several local radio stations and exposure on three TV stations. In July of 2006, Silversafe traveled to Los Angeles to record a three-song demo under the guidance of Michael Wallace, who has worked with such artists as Live and Weezer. In August of 2007, Silversafe began recording a full-length project, Automatic Heart, at Portland’s Black Diamond Studios. The album is scheduled for a December release. Silversafe has also signed with a LA-based PR firm in an effort to bring their new release to the masses. The band strives to write about subject material that delves deeper than the typical fare of today’s rock music. Thoughtfully addressing subjects such as war, relationships, paradigms and politics, Silversafe’s music has been described as “iconoclastic, yet not overbearing.” No wonder one reviewer says that “these guys are going to be a serious mainstay.”
