Sit Down Strikes is a 4-piece pop-punk band based out of Baltimore, Maryland. After high school, twin brothers Anthony (vocals/guitar) and Mike Romeo (bass/vocals) decided they wanted to stay close to home and start a rock band. They had been playing music together since age 8, so it was only natural to start a band. Being across the street from well-known producer Brian McTernan, they became friends with popular bands like Senses Fail and Set Your Goals. These friendships gave them even more reason to push themselves to be the best they could be. Growing up listening to bands like the Loved Ones and Strike Anywhere, they started forming bands with their friends from high school, including current guitarist Mike Gum. Gum filled in as their drummer temporarily while they looked for a replacement. After starting several bands that never worked out, they finally found a drummer from Towson that shared their taste in music. Drummer Jack O’Connell, liking more pop-punk styled music like Green Day, New Found Glory, and Blink-182, completed Sit Down Strikes in September 2010, creating their own unique sound which combines melodic hardcore and easycore like Four Year Strong with a pop-punk twist like hometown heroes All Time Low. The members of Sit Down Strikes are very passionate about what they do and about reaching out to their fans. They want the music they make to be fun and creative, so people can recognize their songs. They’ve gained quite a following by playing local venues around their hometown including the Recher Theatre, the Ottobar, and the Quarter at Bourbon Street, as well as online from features with music blogs. You can check Sit Down Strikes out at their Facebook page at www.Listn.to/SitDownStrikes and listen to their debut EP, released in December of 2010, recorded by Jeff Parcher at Towson University.
