Born in Florida, but raised in Philadelphia, Smit Brown has always been influenced by and involved in a variety of music genres. At a young age, Smit participated in his church's choir and was renowned for writing poetry. Later on in his elementary school years, he became interested in percussion and began playing the drums in the eighth grade. Right before high school, Smit Brown was placed into the B.D.P.A. (Black Data Processing Association) where he was trained on the construction and usage of computer hardware and software. This all would prepare him for something he had no idea would be his actual calling: music production.
As far as his introduction to hip hop, Smit was quoted that he “… could remember hearing oldies and gospel music (while) being around my mother… but when I got around my father, uncle, or cousins, they would listen to hip hop and that was like my therapy". Smit Brown was introduced to the U gang (B.A.U.) by Sharod Starks also known as PT, one half of Loose & PT. He was the first addition to the roster beyond Loose, PT and Samik. Both a dangerous MC and enigmatic producer, Smit Brown has one of the most anticipated projects of the Business As Usual roster: “First Impression”.
