Solid State Logic (SSL) was formed in 2005 in San Francisco, CA. Pulling from many influences and personalities, the band developed a heavy rock sound that quickly gained attention. Early on, producer Sylvia Massy (System of a Down, Tool) contacted SSL to work on a full-length release. Soon after preliminary discussions, the band signed a deal with Sylvia’s new label, National Recorder. SSL completed and released their debut CD, titled “Disarray” in 2006. Disarray would then go to sell several thousand copies over the next couple of years while the band played with such acts as Adema, VAST, Framing Hanley, and HURT. During the support of Disarray, SSL was contacted by the video production company, Digital Interference (DI). DI expressed a strong interest in making a video for the song “It’s Not Over” off of Disarray. The video has since been shown worldwide on various music networks and adopted by Fox Sports and Palestra.net in support of the 2008/2009 College Football season. After receiving private sponsorship in early 2008, SSL began working on songs at Jay Baumgardner’s NRG Recording Studios, sharing the studio with Linkin Park during sessions for Minutes to Midnight. The resultant two tracks, “Not The One” and “Denial”, were recorded and produced by Sergio Chavez (Motörhead Evanescence). It was also during this time that the band garnered sponsorship opportunities from Coffin Case, NorCal Surf Shop, Rockstar Energy Drink, and others. The songs “Not The One” and “Denial” have recently been receiving airplay on San Francisco’s largest rock radio stations, KITS Live 105 and 107.7 The Bone. In 2008, SSL was contacted by Rogue Island (RI) productions out of Seattle, WA. RI designed a modern studio and production company to work on band development and offered SSL the opportunity to record a new set of recordings with the goal of working towards a second CD release. A six-song EP was recently completed in early 2009, titled “The Affliction EP”. SSL is currently pursuing the completion of a second full-length recording with a release goal of late 2009. Solid State Logic currently draws large crowds in the Bay Area and in San Francisco and has been forced to reserve shows for larger venues such as Slim’s and the Great American Music Hall. SSL consistently makes their way to Los Angeles and other Western US locations. Regardless of the economic crisis and the unknown state of the music industry, SSL has shown their fans that perseverance and their love of music cannot discourage them.
