Like cookies and cream, like ebony and ivory…tall, dark, and handsome—tall, creamy, and smooth…that’s S.O.U.L., two of the hottest young men to grace the R & B stage. Born and raised in Columbia, South Carolina, Zane and Jay’s friendship and love of music spans more than half of their lives. The two have been singing separately and together since they were young children, using music as their outlet whether good or bad.
In high school, the two were a part of a singing group “The Black Diamonds.” Upon graduation, they went their separate ways and lost touch while serving their county and traveling the world in the United States Military. Through all of their ups and downs, good and bad, music remained a constant in both of their lives. The dream of singing on the big stage became a distant but ever present memory.
2009 brought the dream back to the forefront when Zane and Jay reunited as S.O.U.L. Although they have not yet had the opportunity to perform on a large stage, they have been working to hone their craft, performing in smaller, local venues around the Columbia area. Zane and Jay take old school soul and mix it with new school trends to create a perfect blend. They might remind you of Al or Marvin one minute, Luther or Gerald the next…they may even take you back to Sam or Jackie. But, wherever they take you it will be an experience you won’t forget.
