SouthDub Shondale Callahan (Born April 18th 1986) known as Smash B, and Brandon Armstrong (Born Feb 18th 1988) known as Docious, better known together as Southdub are American rappers, writers and actors. Southdub openly speaks about the roots of their stage name, which comes from growing up on the South West part of Oklahoma City. Southdub made their introduction in the game when they released their first professional album “Every Song could be a single” which spawned the singles “In the Club”, “Rhythm”, “Imma Boss” & “Let me see you do it”. All at which are currently available on iTunes. “Imma Boss” being their #1 seller! History Shondale and Brandon are blood brothers, both born @ Martin Luther King Hospital in Los Angeles, Ca and come from a family of 11 brothers and sisters. With their mother being a single woman and sole provider of their family it was difficult for them to stay in one place for a long period of time and stay focus on school. Seattle, WA was home for a short period as well as Oceanside, Ca and Oklahoma City. Southdub has stated before that the first time they fell in love with Hip Hop was when they heard Tupacs “Dear Mama” but became serious in “05” after meeting a close friend in Oklahoma City. This relationship sparked a hunger for more of what the rap game had to offer so in “07” they returned back to their birth state California to pursue their dream. The Journey (2007-2009) Southdub arrived in Oceanside, California early of “07”, in a few months was introduced to T. Maurice of Coastline Ent by a mutual friend, whom then immediately found a liking in their unique style. After signing an agreement with T. Maurice to be their manager, production on their first Album “Every song could be a single and their street Mix tape “Bosses and Businessmen” was everyone’s #1 priority. After releasing a few street anthems from their Mix tape such as “Bosses and Businessmen” “In the City” “Back to the telly” and “Music” it caught the attention of Producers like Mr. Skrilla, Tella and J Hustle. Most significantly it caught the attention of Jeffrey Frieberger, CFO of RHYTHM liquor. By the middle of “07” people were very familiar with Southdub’s Mix Tape, Jeffrey Frieberger was requesting a promotional song for his new liquor “Rhythm” and “Every Song Could be a single” was 50% done. Unexpectedly, Shondale receives a call from his kids-mother in Oklahoma City resulting in him having to drop everything and tend to his family. T. Maurice was forced to call a meeting with only one half of Southdub (Docious) left, Angel Sicc and only half of “Every song could be a single” complete. They were on their way to Oklahoma City to complete a project long over due. Dec of “07” they reunite with Smash and back to business it was. February of “08” would be the month that birthed the promotional song for Rhythm liquor called “Rhythm”, in connection got them an invitation to the Rhythm launch party May of “08” in Louisville, Ky. Over 1000 people attended the launch party with every one leaving with a copy of the promotional song “Rhythm” in their hand. Returning back to Oklahoma City with cases of Rhythm Liquor Southdub immediately started their own promotion in Oklahoma City. Finishing up the remainder of the album with “In the Club”, “Tonight”, “Bring it to bring it” & “Let me see you do it” the project was finally done with “let me see you do it” being the albums front-runner. Sep of “08” “Every Song could be a single” was released on ITunes backed with heavy promotion. Z100 (New York), 98.3 Kiss FM (Winchester, Va), 95.9 Kiss Fm (Youngstown, Oh) and Kiss 107 (Cincinnati, Oh) are just a few radio stations that gave “Let me see you do it” airplay. After a lot of broken promises and things beginning to die down in a city that was in need of a lot of development Southdub set their eyes on Atlanta, Ga. Dec of “08” Southdub hit the streets of Oklahoma City hard with their CDs and came up with just enough money to rent a car and head to Hip hops new Home (Atlanta, Ga). The Breakthrough Begins! Atlanta, Ga The Breakthrough (2009-2010) Once arriving to Atlanta on Feb 11th of “09” Southdub just knew this is where things would began happening. Within a couple of weeks Southdub was no longer looking like a tourist and found themselves Downtown Atlanta everyday selling their CDs. After being downtown for 3 weeks straight they ran into a promoter of a new club “Garage’ that was opening on Memorial Dr and was offered a spot every Thursday to perform. The club would soon close after not enough revenue. Southdub was still in contact with Jeffrey from Rhythm Liquor and received another invitation to a Launch this time in South beach, Fl. Mar of “09” would be a defining month for Southdub after meeting some good connection at the Rhythm launch party in Florida. Southdub meet J Hostyle who would later help them finish the production of their second CD “Nightlife”. May of “09” Southdub received another call from Jeffrey of RHYTHM liquor this time asking them to perform @ his ‘Rhythm Nation Derby Gala” in Indiana. Tila Tequila, 112 and LMFAO would also be performing that night. This would be Southdubs biggest night ever! Southdub attended the “Gala” and everything went as planned with Southdub ending the night with the Final performance after 112, Tila Tequila and LMFAO. That summer July of “09” Southdub reconnected with J Hustle in California and took a trip back home to start recording on their second album. Here is where the songs “Closer”, Sexy N Confident, “Perfect ending” and “College girl” would be created. Returning to Atlanta Fall of “09” with new sound and updated music Southdub once again hit the streets of downtown Atlanta. For the next several months Southdub would find themselves going back in forth from Atlanta to Orlando to finish up their second Album “Nightlyfe” with J hostyle. With a good percentage of the second album complete early of 2010 Southdub slowly began developing a close personal relationship with J Hostyle and continued to visit Orlando on non-business related issues. Southdub would go onto to meet Tony Loko a mutual friend of J Hostyle and he would produce Southdubs first Official Video “Star” in the spring of 2010. 2010-Present It was revealed on Twitter and Facebook that “Star”, “Closer” & “Sexy N Confident” are all available on iTunes, Southdub is still producing more songs for their second album to stay current and release should be sometime around Summer or Fall of 2011.
