As described by Alan Cross (Host of Explore Music), "True DIY power pop that should turn some heads. If not, you're not listening properly!" Having toured extensively across 22 states, and with more than 500 shows under their belts, Philadelphia rock band SPiN has only recently released their first full-length album, "BELiEVE". Most often compared to bands like Muse, Queen, and The Cars, SPiN's sound has been described as alternative pop/rock infused with electronic elements and powerful vocal harmonies. The debut album has been met with both industry praise, such as from Bill Burrs (Sr. VP at RCA Music) who said "nice rock edge with some real pop sensibilities" and national press, like in Vintage Guitar Magazine, "...a comfortable space between emo and the grittier side of power pop...some very radio-friendly material." Tracks from the album are receiving commercial airplay across the US and Canada and have appeared in hit MTV Networks' series, such as "I Used to be Fat" and "Teen Mom".Abandoning the bigger studio approach used for their previous releases, SPiN championed the DIY approach to the fullest this time around - producing, engineering, mixing and mastering the entire album on their laptops in the band's makeshift studio located inside a 150 year old funeral home. The band's previous self-titled EP (produced by grammy nominated engineer, David Ivory) was also well received, producing their first top 10 hit with the single "Home" reaching number 7 on the FMQB charts and being labeled by that same publication as "easily one of the surprises of the year". Building on that momentum, SPiN provided support for multi-platinum acts such as Puddle of Mudd, Hinder, Trapt, and Fat Joe as well as Halestorm, Red, SafetySuit, Rev Theory, and other major acts. The music video for "Playing Dead" garnered similar attention with rotation in the U.S. on FUSE TV, in Canada on AUX TV, and online as a NEW Yahoo! Music featured video. The buzz eventually made its way to Spin magazine's publisher Tom Hartle, who said "we want to support these guys", which was ironic in that his magazine filed a cease and desist order against the band for use of the name.SPiN is currently back in the studio working on new material, while reviews of the album continue to pour in. As blogger Marty Dodge (Blogcritics.org) reported "...good example of that sort of catchy pop hard rock that Queen became so famous for... so poppy and catchy...there is nothing not to like!"
