Biography Born on October 9, 1979 at Bowling Green Warren County Hospital now know as the Medical Center of Bowling Green to Sheila & Dennis Minton. In 1985 My parents divorced and my mom moved me and my sister Susan to Roundhill, Ky where I was raised. I went to church at a little country church named Hopewell Baptist Church Also know as Cub Creek. On January 12, 1994 I was saved by the hand of the Lord. I Joined Hopewell Baptist Church. After getting saved by singing Amazing Grace I knew what the good Lord had in store for me. So I started in by singing at any church I went to.When my grandfather passed away in 1999 tragedy struck me because he was like a father to me been's the fact my dad was in the military and remarried in Texas when I was a kid and never there. Anyway back to the story nothing was going right. My family that had always stuck together seemed to of fell apart. So I started drinking about to give up on life itself. I gave up on everything because I felt I had nobody or anything left. Until one day I had met a friend at a place in Bowling Green called Betty's in 2001. My friend named Rick Dunn gave me the opportunity to start helping him with his karaoke Equipment to setup because Rick was paralyzed. Well after I had gotten my first Dui Rick had told me a story of how he became paralyzed. Rick told me that he and some friends had just got through playing as a band at a place, they had all been drinking and they had wrecked. It paralyzed him from the chest down. This changed my lookout on things. I had started helping Rick and enjoying out and singing. I was making it a daily thing to get into. I had started singing at Windyville grocery when I came upon another friend that I had known for the most of my life named Brent Basham. Brent had lived close by and we pretty much grew up together. We started singing together and are trying to form a group together. Brent being a preacher told me that I needed to get my life straightened up and back in order. I brushed off. Although me and Brent would become one of the best buddies that a person could have. About like George Younce & Glen Payne of the Cathedrals. In 2004 Steven had signed up for a contest in Bowling Green, Ky with Jimmy Fowler Sings. I had won the competition in which, they wanted me to go to Enid, Oklahoma. I decided I would stay right where I am at because they wanted me to raise to much money to get into the competition.Later that year his 2 cousins and great uncle was singing at a place called Libby's (known as Live At Libby's) where Tracy Lawrence, Jo Dee Messina, Deana Carter, Garth Brooks, and The Crabb Family got started. My cousins tried very hard to get me down their to sing. I would reply to them "That's Too Far." They would tell me so , but it's fun and you will enjoy yourself . So I went one weekend down there. As soon as I walked in the door Libby greeted me and asked if I had a tape or cd to let him listen to. I gave him one and he put me on stage the next week. Singing down ther every weekend I heard Libby one day talking about starting a Gospel night. I asked him about singing in it. At first he told me no, but I asked him again then he told me O.K.I sang down there along with groups like By Faith and Born Again just to name a few. In which By Faith told me that if I was ever at a performance of theirs that they would put me on stage if I let them know that I was there. Jim Reynolds from Born Again told me to call him to set up an Audition but I never got a response when i called.A couple of weeks later I had just decided I was just going to take a vacation. Well, been's the fact that I never let Libby know that I was going to Florida he would not let me sing on stage. Needless to say I did not go back. Of course, trying to get started that put a hurt on me.. So I just started all over again trying to build a name of for myself in which I did. I started singing at a place called Chilango's that was in Brownsville where Rick Dunn was holding karaoke. One day as when I was singing I ran into Brent again. After about a month of Sammy Glass, Brent, And I singing we decided we would form a trio. We was going to hold a performance up in Brownsville, Ky but Sammy backed out. So I just started singing on my on trying to still yet get noticability. Well with me running here there and everywhere in 2005 I went to settle down one night in a bar that I was known at. When I had left the bar I had gotten pulled over and gotten a 2nd Dui. That was a breaking point for me I was like Steven this is the lord telling you to stop and open your eyes. So I did it again except this time it being the lord telling me I listened. In September 2005 I had cleaned up my act and started straightening up. One day I just felt like I had to talk to Brent so I looked him up where he worked at and talked to him. I told him what I was aiming at then he told me just to let him know when I was ready and willing to get started. In March 2006 I had signed up for a competition in Chattanooga, Tn which was involved with the Southern Gospel Fan Fair. Me not knowing what was going to happen or what to do, being his first actual professional judged contest scored 2290 points out of 3300. I was told by several judges and people in the audience not to give up. If that is what the lord wanted me to do then keep the faith and keep praying. I responded back to them " I won't give up." On my way back home my mother asked me if there was any regrets I told her "no", I could not suspect to win the first major contest I had entered in." I had gotten to looking at the scorepad and thinking to myself if I made it this far in the contest then I do need to keep furthering myself. Thanks to the people up in Brownsville, Kerr Plastics, Nasco Springs, Huish Detergents, and several others of Bowling Green, and family who believed in me and brought my faith and wisdom back up to where the lord wanted me. I feel more lifted with his help back on my side. It is like what my Grandfather and mom used to tell me lay it all in the Lord's hand cause if you don't you won't make it anywhere and the lord will give up on you, all because you gave up on him. So I owe it to them and the Lord for showing me the way that I have prayed about for so long, just never took the time to listen. In February 2006 I ran into a person that had written songs for music stars for 39 years. His name is Randy Boudreaux. He had offered me the opportunity to proceed with myself like Libby had. I have had a chance to perform with Randy although all he wants me to do is find my own band which is hard. In August 2006 another tragedy occurred my grandmother had passed on. She was a loving and caring person who nobody can replace. In November 2006 Ollie Hayes had passed away and that really took a toll on me. Because, other than my real mother she had helped me make it along to what I am today. Come December of 2006 I called Randy Boudreaux and he had me meet him in Nashville at Longhorns. We went outside and Randy listened to my Cd and told me that he loved it. He listened to it and told me that he loved it because of the different vocals that I have and because it is my original voice. As of December 2007 I am Still talking to Randy Boudreaux. He is still trying to get me setup for performances and opening acts for the professional singers. We are going to try to shoot for the beginning of February of 2008 so that I can learn the guitar. As I said before it is between God and me to get the rest done Thank You Lord For Your Blessings
