Steve O (also known as Tipsy) is a British R&B Singer/Songwriter/Producer born in Islington, London. At the age of 6, his family moved to Nigeria were he grew up. At school, he often day dreamed about music...and whenever he sang at the school choir or at talent shows, he got so lost in the music that he was almost drunk with it (even though he never drank). Hence, his friends would start to call him Tipsy. It would be fair to say he has sacrificed four out of the five human senses for the sense of sound. His thirst for learning about melodies and harmonies had consumed him. As a kid, he would learn all the dance routines to Michael Jackson’s Thriller and other iconic videos and then teach his little brothers his moves so they could recreate the routine. At the age of 15, he found that not only could he sing but could actually write his own songs. When he came back to the UK in 1996, he went on to study Business in John Moores University. Because, he didn’t have access to any good producers or sound engineers, he was forced to teach himself all these aspects of making music. In between studies and working nine to five, he would keep looking up books about recording software and researching on the Internet. “I’ve always believed, if you want something done right, do it yourself”…and this is exactly what he did. He and a friend (Kennedy aka KL) went on to form a group called Nex Phaze. This was a unique duo consisting of a singer and a rapper. Their biggest song was a club anthem titled, “Hands Up”. It blew up the airwaves on radio channels like BBC Radio Merseyside, 1Xtra and other local channels. Now residing in the Northwest of England - Liverpool, a buzz has started building around this multi-talented one-man army of an artist as he writes, produces and performs all original songs as well as producing for other local artists. Steve O has been tipped by various local radio stations and club DJs to be UK’s next breakthrough r&b artist.
