TAG Composer, Rapper Name at birth: Gerald Sandor Yusuf Date of birth: October 3, 1985 Birthplace: Queens, NY Bronx, New York, the birthplace of Hip Hop, is where Tag spent the first decade of his life and developed his passion for Hip Hop. His parents were Guyanese immigrants who taught him how to survive in the world around him, while still maintaining his heritage. At the age of 10, Tag and family relocated to Fort Lauderdale, FL, where he was exposed to a different world that enhanced his appreciation for music and performing. Tag first started writing poetry, but that was not enough, he wanted to be heard. He began freestyling, and battling with other talented individuals. With music icons like Michael Jackson, Tupac Shakur, LL Cool J, Eminem, Nas, and Jay-Z to influence him, Tag won battles with his unique lyrics that helped him grow into the dynamic rap artist he is today. He released his debut compilation, The Antagonist, in March 2009, displaying his song writing abilities with clever use of witty wordplay. Performing at local venues around Fort Lauderdale and Miami, and building a network in the music scene is what Tag thrives on. Everyday, he is closer to achieving his goal of becoming a successful artist, and expanding his fan base. Performing at over 50 venues, and being recognized in South Florida is just the beginning. Being open minded to new concepts and ideas makes Tag’s creativity and talent limitless in the studio, allowing him to continuously challenge himself to be better. TAG is inspirational and enjoys working with others he can learn from; his ingenious qualities allow him to create his own successful path. Currently, TAG continues to learn more about himself, through his music, and is recording his second compilation that is currently untitled, and set to be released summer of 2010.
