About Tequila Jones

durham, NC

Born and raised in Durham, NC, Tequila Jones, grew up the only child of both parents. Growing up in a single parent household wasn’t always easy. Being a product of her environment, Tequila quickly realized that living in poverty was not the way she wanted to live for the rest of her life. Becoming apart of her high school marching band, Tequila realized that performing in front of large crowds was pleasurable. She then knew that entertaining people was something she enjoyed doing. As well as entertaining, Tequila always wanted to express herself through words. Highly motivating herself, Tequila started utilizing the pen and pad as a way to cope with everyday life. The southern bell expressed everything from emotions, ideas, and experiences, but only to later be recognized by her peers for her talent. Since then, Tequila has performed at various open mic nights at local clubs. Such as, the Sirens Lounge, The Marvell event center, The Armory, and NCCU talent showcase. Just to name a few. Tequila has also been featured on “Foaming at the mouth” DVD and the Sandra Wilson Talk Show. Currently, Tequila is a full-time student at NCCU, where she is enrolled in several hip-hop courses, that focuses on creating a Record Label entitled, Eagle Media Records. Fortunately, this class is taught by Christopher “play” Martin, William Smith, and 9th Wonder. This class offers insight to what hip hop has derived from to where it’s going. She thinks that it is very wise that every proclaimed artist knows the history before they can make history themselves. Networking, writing her own rhymes, and having tons of energy, are some characteristics that will separate her from the rest. Tequila has also worked with numerous professionals. Such as, F. Kristopher Blue of Eclectic Media and Geechee One Magazine, Von of Dark room entertainment, and lastly, T. Coley of Timeless Soul Entertainment. These are people who believe solely in her talent. Tequila is also a nominee for female hip hop artist of the year at the Carolina Music Awards. Please vote at your convience. On that note, Tequila wants everyone to remember that she will be known very soon. Who knows, she may be coming to a city near YOU!!!
