He is known as Tha Chosen 1. Born Sharod Horton, he grew up on Rockford’s west side of town. Like many, he grew up with a sense of urgency to try to do better for his family, as well as himself. Although he didn’t really have a rough childhood, he did eventually realize the troubles in today’s society for his own people and just plain society in general. What Tha Chosen 1 offers to bring to the game today is a versatile style of hip-hop, with club bangers, mellow joints for the ladies, and even real life, current events that is happening everyday, either in the hood or around the world. He feels that a lot people underestimate the talent from the Midwest. The east-coast is well-known. The South has been established plenty of times. The West will never leave. But when will the Midwest hold the title for awhile? With Tha Chosen 1’s determination, it’s just a matter of time when people realize that he has something special to give. He has performed in places like, Chicago, Wisconsin, New York, St. Louis, Indianapolis and Memphis, just to name a few.
