Born in Hope, Arkansas, Tecero Muldrew has been rhyming since the age of ten. Nicknamed “Dirty Blac” by his granny, dedication and commitment showed itself to Muldrew at a young age. Although he tried his hand at the family business, music is what steered the young visionary away from the streets and into creating his own reality. Determined to record, he’d make his way to a studio in Louisiana where he honed his skills as part of a local group called the Crime Family. In spite of all the first-hand experience he gleaned from his own family, Dirty Blac grew up listening to the likes of UGK and developed his lyrical swagger from some of his favorite southern rappers and singers. “There are so many different style’s of Southern rap,” explains Dirty Blac, “In Atlanta you got that snap music, in Houston they tend to be a littler more flossy with the ice and riding on rims, but Arkansas is the hood, it’s the South’s reality check. It’s hard
down here; we don’t just have to watch out for the gangs, we gotta watch out for the police and the Klan too.”
A large part of this thugs’ motivation comes from seeing those he’s had the pleasure of sharing a stage with, now doing big things. “I’ve done show’s with everybody back in the day Mike Jones, Slim Thug, Chamillionaire, all of em before they blew up, and now when I see them on TV it makes me real proud, but now it’s my turn to bring the shine back to Arkansas.” says Blac. The catalyst for change came about when his manager, Lafayette Lawson introduced the young talent to the CEO of Keep It Pushin Records, Terry Carter. Carter liked Dirty Blac immediately and signed him to his label. “Outside of his talent, Blac has a good head on his shoulders and it just made sense for me to sign him.” says the CEO. Dirty Black already had the help and support of a longtime friend and hometown hero Pretty Tony who contributed his skills to Blac’s upcoming release. Pretty Tony had released his own hit song through J records called down in the durty. Arkansas went crazy for Pretty Tony but with more than two years since his success, the city is anxious for its next savior and Dirty Blac plans to be just that.
Utilizing Carter’s Westside connections, they arranged a meeting with legendary West coast producer Rhythm D (NWA, Snoop, Bone, Thugs & Harmony) and after only ten minutes into the meeting, the chemistry was so strong they already begun recording their first song together. The rapper’s self described style of country boy gangsta R&B came full circle when they added another West coast all-star, Battlecat (Snoop, Kurupt, Tha Eastsidaz) to the production roster. “Man, I didn’t know what to think when I realized I had Rhythm D and Battlecat producing tracks on my album, these cats have created some of the greatest records in hip-hop, and we vibed together and made more great music. It was a real blessing.” The end result…Mastermind, the debut release coming this summer from Dirty Blac. When the dirty South and South Central collide it’s a funky gangsta ride and Dirty Blac couldn’t be more proud of his efforts to bring the spotlight back on Arkansas.
With appearances by Pretty Tony, Kokane, Tha Eastsidaz, Bone Crusher, up and coming artist ATRIO, Lavish, Miss Kali and Scooby… Mastermind is a masterful mix of the bounce of the South accentuated by the west side’s gangsta groove. Get ready to experience the ride for yourself February 2008.
