About The Douglas James Band
Three Rivers, MI
Formed in 2004 by front man Douglas James, this Southern Michigan based quartet quickly built a
reputation as a must-see country band. Whether playing contemporary country, which is the core of the
band's song list, classic country, or rock, the band adds their own energetic flair to each song they play.
The band's sound has been compared to Big and Rich and Garth Brooks.
A wise man once said "to be successful you must surround yourself with successful people and let them do
their job". After hearing the band, it becomes evident that Douglas adopted this philosophy when he chose
the musicians for this project. Combine a rock solid foundation of drums and driving bass, with three part
harmonies and skillful lead guitar behind a lead vocal range that has been compared to that of Garth
Brooks, and you have an idea of what you are in for with the band.
"Fan-Friendly" is how many describe this band. Beyond the obvious musical talent, what sets this band
apart from other bands is their ability to mold their show around their immediate audience. Douglas listens
and watches and takes every opportunity to include the audience in the show.
Just as fast as the band hit the Southwest Michigan music scene their schedule became a topic of
discussion in the local music community. It is rare that the band has a weekend off, and many times you
will find they are booked at two different venues on the same day. Playing clubs, parties, weddings,
festivals, live radio appearances, and opening shows for national acts keeps the band moving at a hectic
The band released their debut CD "Boondocky" in July of 2007 and has sold nearly 2,000 copies
internationally, and has received local radio airplay.
Giving back to the community is a core value in the band. With that in mind, you will find the band
participating in fund-raising events and hosting their annual Fan Appreciation Party. This two-day event is
a way of saying thanks to the fans for their support throughout the year.
Currently, the band is writing and recording tracks for their much-anticipated second CD.
Future goals for the band are to begin touring a larger demographic area and playing more festivals.
No matter the venue, whether a large line-dance club, small honky-tonk, or arena stage, The Douglas
James Band delivers.
