All original. Always true. The Fishermen Band is predicated on strong vocals, thick rhythms, and songs that mean something. Taking their highly electric shows from DC to LA, to Austin over 10 years, The Fishermen Band has built a loyal army of fans nationwide. Perhaps best known for their 2001 smash internet hit "Dream" which reached #1 on Garageband out of over 10,000 worldwide submissions, TFB also sold out shows alongside Maroon5, Allrise, Pseudopod, and Raining Jane at Hollywood clubs like The Whiskey A Go Go, The Troubadour, and the Viper Room in the early 2000's. The Fishermen Band was formed when brothers Lindsay and Phillip Hough blended the music they had written to become The Fishermen Brothers. "The Fishermen" was an idea that came on account of the Brothers growing up a few blocks from the Potomac River in Georgetown, Washington DC and having an affinity for the past time. Moving to L.A to pursue a career in music in 1999 proved wise as their project became a Los Angeles sensation overnight. Coupling with other bands that would later go on to great success themselves, TFB partnered with Prager Productions, a successful college based entertainment company that promoted the band at UCLA. Frenzy followed the band as they sold out Hollywood hot spots, and gave(yes, gave) away thousands of free CD's. Seemingly unstoppable, the band took a short hiatus due to the rigors of touring that proved fatal to its success. In 2001 the Hough brothers lost their older brother Brandon to a life long struggle with Grand Mall Epilepsy. The Fishermen Band was back seated while the brothers grieved and moved back to DC. TFB was effectively ended. In 2004 however, Phillip and Lindsay recorded "Invisible Thickness" with their former Pianist Pat Lee in Boulder, CO and sent it to friends out west. After receiving a copy, former TFB member and owner of American Soul Records, Zack Prager contacted the brothers and signed The Fishermen Band to a deal that included moving TFB to Austin, Texas. In 2005 they exploded onto a saturated Austin music scene, finding all star players and using their trademark "free music" promotions to launch themselves into the Austin limelight. Working with Grammy winning producer Carlos Sosa, and opening for the Grooveline Horns(of Jason Mraz), Boombox, and DJ Rapid Ric at Austins Famed Lucky Lounge every week, TFB loaded up on shows and street cred in the eyes of Austin fanatics. They also opened for The Charlie Daniels Band, John Popper of Blues Traveller, played the South By South West music festival, and made it to the top 5 out of over 2,000 bands in the Famecast Music Competition. TFB was again successful at promoting itself to the highest levels of the local music scene. However, tragedy would strike the brothers again when their father Capt. Phil Hough Sr. USNR abruptly passed away in 2008. Again, TFB was back seated, and the brothers moved back to DC. This time however, tragedy did not deter the band, and in the ashes of sorrow arose inspiration. The band was invited to record at Ambiance Recording Studios with long time friend and east coast music producer Josh Insel. The Fishermen Brothers recorded their 2nd major release "Vision" and afterwards appropriated studio musicians Mike Walker(bass), Chris Compton(keys, trumpet, drums, guitar, vocals), guitar phenom Andy Westcott, Jerome Maffeo(drummer "Jimis Chicken Shack"s,and 2 time Emmy Winning Producer) Chris Murray(drums) and Percussionist Jeff Goodwin. Known for swapping out members over the years, The Fishermen now had solid core members and would change their professional name to "The Fishermen Band". Since "Vision" 's release in 2009, The Fishermen Band has been focused, selling out clubs all over the DC area with their loyal, loud, and dance happy fans. With plans to release a new album Summer of 2011, and show dates booked into 2012- The Fishermen Band has finally hit their stride, and is making music that is inspiring listeners and critics alike.
