The Monty Casper Project was started as a project to pay tribute to the great instrumental hits of the 60s, 70s & 80s. It all started decades ago when Monty took piano lessons. As with so many kids who took formal training during the 60s, the lessons got boring after a while so Monty began to search out the popular hits of the day to keep his interest. As years went by the lessons fell by the wayside but not the interest in music. By the late 70s, Monty was using his skills on the keyboards and guitar in various rock bands and by the 80s was playing full time on the road in Top 40/hard rock acts. By the 90s, priorities changed and although playing full time was limited to local gigs, this freed up some time to pursue writing original instrumental material. Although a departure from the rock projects that he has on the go, it was something he had always wanted to bring to fruition and did so with the 2008 release of "Soundbox". The CD pays tribute to such artists as Herb Alpert and George Benson, who also inspired the 2009 followup digital release "Sunset Smooth". Monty explains, "Although the material for these two releases were years in the making, I'm proud to have finally put them out there for the world to discover and hope people enjoy listening to the songs as much as I enjoyed making them."
