The Noms are an acoustic pop band from Albuquerque, NM. The group has left audiences of all ages wide-eyed and grinning from their feel-good, inventive songs and their comfortable and interactive stage presence. These musicians make a stimulating (and surprisingly balanced) sound from their unique mix of voice, guitar, piano, and diverse percussion, drawing on influences such as Paul Simon, Dave Matthews, Michelle Branch, John Frusciante, The Fray, Raul Midón, and even a cappella and choral experiences. A key trait is their forefront of three vocal powerhouses. These singers easily identify with their own developed solo styles yet frequently explore gutsy, three-part harmonies – a combination of contrast and unity that gives this band a distinct expressive mark. The college-age group has rapidly gained popularity around the UNM campus after performing for multiple campus events and winning the 2009 Make a Wish Foundation Battle of the Bands and the 2010 UNM Battle of the Bands. They followed with local and regional performances. Their first EP, “Choices,” released in May, 2010 with rave reviews which led to television appearances on Good Morning New Mexico, KOAT and My 50TV. The band is slated to release their new single in January of 2011, a new album in the Spring of 2011 followed by a 2 to 3 month international tour.
