Right out of high school in New Orleans, Louisiana, Danny Lester was trying to find the right sound to fuse with him as he was jumping from band to band. Everything in New Orleans was heavy metal and not in the direction he was trying to go so he moved to Baton Rouge and started seeking out the talent there. After Danny was randomly introduced to James “PB” Greer, they had a jam session to House of the Rising Sun on their first meeting, and they fused so well together Danny knew he had found his missing key. Beginning as Echoes from the Edge, they asked Jeffery Frederick to play drums (Danny had been through 2 other bands with him in New Orleans and he was a reliably powerful asset). That band went through 2 singers and a bass player until they found all of the missing elements that became The Old Oaks. LJ Chappuis, strongly recommended by PB, went to high school with him in Slidell, Louisiana where they also spent their childhood. When he came to audition, the first bass riff he played blew their minds and the band knew he was the exact style they were looking for. The finished product sounds like an invasion of new age space rock mixed with an abundance of sporadically organized rhythms and powerhouse vocals. Their ALL-original sound ranges from old school classic rock to a new style with an exceptionally emotional and passionate fueling force that jams through your head, mind, and soul as it overtakes your Vibe and intensifies as each song flows out of our veins and into your ears, releasing neurons that activate your "pleasure" senses in the left and right frontal lobes of your brain. After only 2 months of practice with the new members they played their first show for Guerilla Productions’ Battle of the Bands at the Howlin’ Wolf in New Orleans, where they won out of crowd approval between 8 different bands. After that things took off and the band has been playing shows around the New Orleans/Baton Rouge area at Mellow Mushroom, Babylon Sports Bar, Northgate Tavern, The Roux House, Insomneeacks, and even a few house parties. They have a MySpace page (www.myspace.com/theoldoaks) where they have some recordings and where they communicate with their 4300 fans. Now, they have a 2 hour set list of over 14 songs and you can feel the energy at every live performance.
