About The Red Apples
The Red Apples is a Chicago roots rock band that aims to cover a lot of musical territory. We play both originals and covers along with some covers that are pretty original. We’ve been around and it shows in our music. We play Duke Ellington even though we aren’t a jazz ensemble and we do the Kinks even though we’re not a 60’s cover band. We love Lucinda Williams as well as Iggy Pop, and we crave the occasional polka tune. We have a collectively eclectic musical ear, and the need and desire to tackle new challenges all the time. Currently we’re writing songs that have some down home to them as well us some uptown, if you know what we mean. You could say we're both urban and rural at the same time; that we rock hard, but we like pretty too. Ron Lowy, is a mean machine lead guitar player with a voice suited perfectly to those western swing tunes we dig. When he sings with the dulcet tones of his partner in time, Miss Wendy Parman, we’re talking some tight harmonies and some sweet sass.
Right now we are breaking in our new rhythm section with Pete Alinovich on guitar, Rich Castillo on drums, and Tim O'Brien on bass. More about them coming up. Meanwhile check out our dates, website and myspace page
The Red Apples can rock the house, tell you something about the blues, and swing with the best of them, playing at everything from private parties to street fairs to your local watering hole... So what are you waiting for? Come on out...
