The Summer Knights, formerly The Useless Reptiles, were founded in October of 2009, when two young men by the name of Luke deWilde and Charles O'Neill jammed together for the first time. Luke, who had already written songs of his own, was in need of a drummer, and Charles, who taught himself how to play drums via Guitar Hero and Rock band, stepped up, and a bond was instantly formed. After a few practices, their first song "Seventy-Five" was starting to come together. After recording a rough demo of "Seventy-Five", the band starting re-crafting some of the songs Luke had already written. By the time spring of 2010 came around, the band had a handful of songs shaping up. In May, The band Still Time came to play at St. Paul's School, the boarding school Luke and Charles currently attend. Luke and Charles, known as "The Useless Reptiles" at that time, opened for them, playing five songs. In August, three more songs were recorded in Studio D located in Sausalito, CA. With those songs done, and two more songs written in September of 2010, the band has just released a 9-song EP, entitled Quest to California.
