About The Vox Jaguars

Santa Cruz, CA

The Vox Jaguars formed in 2006.
Noah Bond-Guitar
Jordy Topf-Guitar/Vocals
Trevor Hope-Drums
Mason Rosenberg-Bass
They play a blend of garage-psychedelic-indie rock.

The Vox Jaguars have played with The Fiery Furnaces, Grand Ole Party, Big Brother & The Holding Company, Scissors For Lefty, Sleepy Sun, Mammatus, Giraffes? Giraffes!, The Botticellis, and Jaguar Love.

Cutting their teeth beside SC mainstays like Man / Miracle and Sleepy Sun, The Jags have a polished sound and energy that is well beyond their years (the bands average age is 17.75). Like many indie rockers, The Vox Jags draw from the late 70's and early 80's New York scene juggernauts like Talking Heads and The Velvet Underground (we all know they were an SF band, but they weren't shit until they hit New York), while demonstrating the angst and immediacy that we have all come to love and expect from the likes of Television and Elvis Costello. The Vox Jaguars wryly romantic lyrics and lusty dance floor tempos will transport you to the most righteous basement parties of your youth- when we were all spitting our ADD meds into the toilet and sneaking out the kitchen door to get loaded on box-wine, suck face and be awash in music that informed the urgency of our shared adventure.

The Vox Jaguars musical DNA bears traces of the epic teen-raunch rock and roll genes of The Troggs & The Standells passed through the lineages of Bowie & Bolan, recapitulated by The Verve and Blur and then seeded and sown into the soil of present-day Santa Cruz by The Yeah Yeah Yeah's.

They will be releasing a debut -ep- on Kansas City label Anodyne Records on January 27th, 2009.
