...At age 12, he was fascinated with recording, and got his hands on a 4-track cassette recorder. He made all sorts of recordings, and moved to midi programming on the earliest of drum machines and keyboards. Tim would sometimes call random phone numbers and say, "Hello, I'm Johnny Cash" and start singing Folsom Prison Blues. Sometimes people would hang up, but most of them would listen and ask him to call back later, so others could hear him! Tim was too shy to sing in public until he joined a band at age 16. The band needed a singer, so he opened up and sang a few Eagles songs while playing bass guitar. It was then realized he had a true gift for singing.
...After finishing High School, Tim submitted a tape of original songs to a local recording studio. The studio owner, Bob Aquaviva, took him under his wing and gave him the keys to the 16-track studio. Tim would occasionally help with midi programming and vocal tracks. He would go to the studio late at night, or early in the morning to record his own songs. After mastering recording techniques, Tim moved to Long Island, NY to work in a bigger 24-track studio. He would perform on the weekends with a band called Chameleon. They named the band this because Tim was a vocal chameleon. He could make his voice sound like any artist he sang. With a five-octave range, it was easy for him.
...Tim later returned to Central NY, and started performing solo. When his Father passed away, Tim decided to go back to his roots and put together a Johnny Cash tribute show. It pays tribute to Johnny Cash as well as his late Father. The show is 90 minutes long, and is in sync with a video backdrop. It is educational as well as entertaining. Tim sounds so much like Johnny Cash; it will make the hair on the back of your neck stand up, and give you goose bumps! "When I sing Johnny Cash or other artists, I picture them in my head. It's kind of like channeling them," says Tim.
