Since relocating to Los Angeles from his native San Francisco in 2004, Todd Herfindal has been busy. Most notably he's known as co-singer, co-frontman, guitar-player of Los Angeles' band The Meadows. Rolling Stone praised The Meadows as "true believers in the power of the perfect rock song." The Meadows just put out their 2nd full-length album "First Nervous Breakdown" in Jan. 2008. The band continues to play live, write and record and has landed several songs in feature films and tv shows. On to the main event: Todd Herfindal's debut solo album "Collective" is a collection of songs, a collection of amazing players, and a collection of time. Since moving his life to Hollywood in 04', Todd has flourished in the creative musical landscape, putting out an album a year as The Meadows. If that wasn't enough Todd co-wrote more than two albums worth of songs with some of LA's & Nashville's finest writers like Duane Jarvis (Lucinda Williams, Frank Black), Rich McCulley, Michael Dukes (Mechanical Birds), Kevin Houlihan (The Meadows). Inescapable talent peppers the album in the form of guest players such as Taras Prodaniuk (Lucinda, Dwight Yokam) and Kyle Mullarky (The Shore) on bass, Rich McCulley on all sorts of guitars, and Tommy Rickard (Courtney Love) on drums, percussion. When asked about "Collective" Todd Herfindal comments "These songs went even deeper into a rock/Americana/pop/alt. country feel compared to The Meadows. There became a point where there were so many good ones, it started to feel like a cohesive album with it's own identity. It felt like a record I wanted to put my name on." So here is Todd Herfindal's "Collective." Eleven honest, passionate, timeless rock songs from a guy who never thought he'd put out a solo record, the guy with the weird last name (pronounced Her-fin-doll).
