Started playing in public places (bars and clubs) around my home area in northern Iowa when I was 17 and kept it up through the summer of 1969 when I played a little bar called Andy's on Bourbon Street in New Orleans.  I left Andy's to play the Sazerac Lounge in the Hotel Roosevelt and left there to go back and finish college.  That was the end of my musical "career", but I never quit playing or learning. Just a word of encouragement - I'm now 70 and still learning and there is no end in sight. I still play some of my dad's music - Stardust, Stormy Weather, etc. and write some of my own which is usually related to the Ozarks hills and streams I live among and love so well.
