Tyeena was born and raised in sunny San Diego, California. At a young age she decided that she wanted to pursue a career in music. Still unsure of what her signature sound was her brother, acclaimed music producer Hartman, gave her the opportunity to perform on hooks for local artist. As her talent began to develop Hartman transitioned her from local artist to mainstream. One of the first mainstream artist albums she appeared on was Gucci Mane’s “Your Rappers Favorite Trapper”, where she did the hook for “Superstar”. After appearing on numerous hooks, Tyeena suggested to her brother Big A that she branch out and develop as more than just a “hook” girl. Her transition from hooks to Tyeena the artist inspired her first song “Off the Hook”. With the release of her first song, she switched up her style and set out to develop her brand. She began to define herself as a “poper”-pop rapper, and decided to use her real name as her stage name. Skeptical about her career after the release of “Off the Hook”, Tyeena was unsure if music was her calling, but decided to give it one more shot. She released the female anthem “Shoes, Bags, Boys” via MySpace and YouTube. After only a couple of months the song began to receive heavy support from people all over the country. With an enormous amount of support Tyeena knew that she had a talent and became devoted to developing it. Tyeena the artist is a lot like Tyeena the person. There is no fine line that separates the two. Tyeena has always been energetic, fun, and outgoing. Her personality reflects throughout her music and her performances. She has an alluring stage presence that goes hand in hand with her catchy and lively lyrics. “I create fun sing alongs, my style is Pop, its Alternative-Hip Hop, its Electronic, and it’s very relatable. I’m a Poper. I love all my songs, everyday life influences the music I make; I pull inspiration from the things I do, the clothes I wear, and the people I meet. My biggest inspiration is life.” fav.jpgAll you have to do is listen to one of her songs and it becomes clear that Tyeena is an innovative song writer that creates music for the everyday person. Her wild and flirty style is sure to turn her in to a cultural phenomenon. “People often notice how theatrical I dress and perform, it’s because I have taken theatre classes all my life, it’s a huge part of who I am and allows me to add something extra to my performances, something original. I am in my own lane. I look at people like Cyndi Lauper, Lady GaGa, and Kid Cudi and respect their originality; they are in their own lane.” Hip-hop is a male dominated art form, where you often see female rappers try to emulate their male counter parts and sometimes come across boyish or even manly. You also have artist who exaggerate there femininity and sometimes come across raunchy or promiscuous. Somehow, Tyeena avoided those things that have plagued some of those before her and found a way to keep her sound and content very girly and fun, something her audience has always been able to relate to. Tyeena is one of the few artists that have not been snatched out of a cookie cutter format. She is the traditional definition of a modern day artist; charismatic, stylish, original. Everything from her two-toned untamed hair to her colorful mismatch nails reflects her personal style and self expression. “I have so much to say and I’m so grateful that I have a platform where I can truly express myself. I’m thankful for each day I get to make music because I really do have the best fans in the world.” Tyeena is currently unsigned; and continues to work on new music for her up and coming album.
