To describe the genesis of Vinder we have to step back a long way in time. We need to have a look at the commencing Eighties when the German metal scene was about to arise. Ralf Schulz and Oli Kaufmann where founding Tyran' Pace, thus laying the foundation for a band that strongly influenced the scene over the years. Just before Tyran' Pace released their debut in 1984 with Ralf Scheepers, Ralf Schulz left the band and joined Sinner where he recorded the album Danger Zone. Oli Kaufmann released 'Long Live Metal' and 'Watching You' with Tyran' Pace and after that he was playing together with Ralf Scheepers in a band called Challenger . After that he was playing with Fallen2Pieces and recently Runamok - with Stormwitch's Fabian Schwarz - where he recorded the album 'Back for Revenge'. Over the years Ralf Schulz was playing with Bates Motel, Buster and again with Ralf Scheepers in the Priest Cover Band Just Priest, before Scheepers left for Primal Fear. Vinder itself kicked off in 2001 when Ralf Schulz met Oli Kaufmann after a long time and convinced him to collaborate on a new project. With Huyz on bass, Foti on guitar and at that time with Andi Mersch on vocals Vinder was born. With this instrumentation they recorded their first demos. For spatiotemporal reasons the band had to part company with Andi Mersch in 2003. In 2004 after a long search caused by the high demands of the band they finally found Dirk Schäffner who perfectly fit into the band and exceeded all their expectations. With his expressive and inimitable voice he gave the band a heavy push into the right direction. But it is not only his voice his stage acting and live performance also is just killer. In 2004 Vinder immediately started to record a new Demo with Dirk on vocals and a lot of new songs. The demo was critically acclaimed and assured by the positive reactions the band decided to begin with new recordings for a CD release. In parallel they took care that all songs also work live at its best. In the meantime Vinder also co-authored the song "Sacred Illusions" with Primal Fear that was released on their 'Devil's Ground' album
