Vinsantos has been an important fixture on the San Francisco Underground performance art and music scene since the 90's. Vinsantos has been an important fixture on the San Francisco Underground performance art and music scene since the 90's. This former Miss Trannyshack and Co-Director of the San Francisco Underground Short Film Festival (with the notorious Peaches Christ) has been working with his current band for the last 6 years. Permanent members include Kenny(girl) Annis (guitars, bass, sarod) , Suzzane Ramsey (Kitten on the Keys) (the piano and backing vocals) and Randy O'dell (the drums). This outfit has played numerous venues from the darkest of dives to such prestigious houses as the De Young and the SF MOMA. Vinsantos is a strong advocate for the use of alternative spaces i.e. galleries, wherehouses,movie theatres and even living rooms with the purpose of achieving a new level of intimacy with his audience. Story Telling, Unusual Comedy and Audience Interaction are trademarks of the live shows. Current Projects include a new album titled "A LIGHT AWAKE INSIDE" produced by post punk icon David J (Bauhaus/Love and Rockets) The sound is best described as Glam Cabaret. It had been quite awhile since I had seen former Miss Trannyshack VinSantos perform, and it was quite apparent that he’s been up to a lot. Backed by two musicians on guitar and drums who added a very adept jazzy influence, with VinSantos on keyboards and vocals, they created an unusual hybrid of compelling goth chamber music reminiscent of early Bowie and Bertolt Brecht, and of course Bauhaus and Peter Murpny, with whom VinSantos shares a similar vocal style. At one point he added a beautiful girl to the line-up. She took over the keyboards and additional vocals while he took center stage. Their entire set was really very captivating and disarmingly beautiful, with a strong sense of composition and a flair for subtle dramatics. There was quite a lot going on with these four musicians, none of which faltered into self-seriousness or indulgence. What I saw was elegant and dynamic and very strong.
