When,his older brother,nicknamed,"Dr.John", who was into Miles Davis, John Coltrane, Thelonius Monk,Wes Montgomery,Grant Green,Dizzy,Ray Barretto,Mongo Santamaria and Candido Camero(just to name a few)taught him the basic beats.Felix was in heaven....Thanks,Doc!!!(Much Love!!)Meanwhile,The Motown Sound,Memphis Sound,Philly Sound, along with all the other old school singing groups and bands touched Felix,deeply,but,to this very day,"The Baddest Band in the Land","Earth,Wind & Fire" have remained at the top of his list.Big Thanks to "The Man Himself-" Mr.Maurice White...(Much Love!!!) While continuing his education,Felix studied music theory and voice ("Oh,What A Beautiful Mornin'!")(laugh)at the Wisconsin Conservatory of Music and took piano labs at Milwaukee Area Technical College and also attended The University of Wisconsin-Milw;studying Psychology, Linguistics and World History.Felix also played with several bands over the years in many different genres of music.....reggae,r&b,blues,rock and jazz,etc;and opened for R&B Legend,"Smokey Robinson" and Ol'school crooners,"The Dramatics" and also "Freddie(Rock Me Tonight) Jackson" along with Jazz greats;Saxophonists-"Najee","Kim Waters" and "Mindi Abair".But,performing with SmoothJazz great;Guitarist/Vocalist/Composer- "Nick Colionne" was the turning point for Felix and he would never be the same.Thanks Nico!!! When asked why he chose to start writing his own music....Felix says,"The percussionist is always the first to go when a band needs to cut costs,if you listen to most recordings you hear percussion all up in there,all over the place,but, see the bands live...(only the drummer gets some)...If you know what I mean!!I got sick and tired of being cut,just when you feel like you belong.And so I was pushed,more or less,into the direction of writing music and I am grateful that things turned out the way they did...Big,Big Thanks to the Almighty for technology,because with the creation of music workstation keyboards and digital recorders,etc;I can play all the parts I hear in my head!" Now the World can experience the joy Felix brings in his music with the release of his 1st Self-Produced CD titled,"Rebirth",13 songs(over 75min.) of love.
