Wings For The Queen This Long Beach indie rock band was formed in early 2008 by James Bush (Guitar, Vocals), Laurie Grace (Vocals), Darius Iniguez (Percussion), Chris Lopez (Bass), Scott Jackson (Keys, Guitar),and Keith Simmons (Guitar) all members were school friends and members of a previous outfit that had since split up. Wings For The Queen started rehearsing every weekend in living rooms and rehearsal spaces, and soon began performing in and around the Los Angeles area, steadily building up a small yet passionate fan base. Wings For The Queen’s sound has been described as “eloquent indie pop” with a modern twist of “do it yourself” rock. The reliance of duel vocals and running dialogues, bring on comparisons to such bands as Rilo Kiley, New Pornographers, and Stars. Hints of rough around the edges “power pop” inspired by the independent scene of the late ‘90’s and bands like Modest Mouse, Built To Spill, and Neutral Milk Hotel, are definitely present. Their self released debut EP, Oh Woolfy, was recorded in September of 2008, and featured favorites “Same to You” and “Long Shadows”. A second EP slated for release in early 2009, was recorded in October, 2008, with fellow friend and musician Clark Russell (Percussion). Recorded by Matt Orme (Rademacher) at Gardenside Studios in Fresno, the yet to be titled EP contains future fan favorites, “Kings With No Lovers” and “Monday In July”. Wings For The Queen will hit the studio again in early 2009 to work on their first full length which will include remastered versions of tracks from their first and second EP, and a handful of new songs.
