Bio: One of New Jersey's most exciting up and coming original rock bands, Within Eternity has stepped out from the shadow of the typical rock scene and developed a truly unique sound. Drawing from various influences, Within Eternity has been described as a cross between Tool, U2, and Audioslave. With the band's distinct combination of aggressive guitars, pounding drums, and some of the most strikingly original vocals to be found, Within Eternity is constantly pushing the envelope in an effort to create their own niche in rock music. Originally formed in 2007, Within Eternity was brought to life by Pat Kaplan (drums), Russ Meyer (bass), and Jim Spanarkel (guitars). It wasn’t until November 2010 that the band found their current vocalist, Mark Vaughn. With plenty of existing material, Vaughn began to re-work existing songs and put his stamp on the music, breathing new life into the band’s sound and set. With Vaughn firmly in tow, over the next few months the band continued to write and evolve new material. The writing sessions yielded an exciting new sound and 4 song EP, entitled “Breathing Through Gills”. From the opening track “The Dawning”, Within Eternity’s mission is clear – to set themselves apart from the typical rock clichés. The soaring “Snake Charmer” further holds the listener hostage until the band loosens it’s grip with the catchy “Dead Line”. The band closes out the experience with “Hints & Whispers”, a seven and a half minute composition which explores the quartet’s darker, more progressive side.
