Southern California native, Yvonne Meek, has been singing since she can remember. She always had a radio playing in her bedroom growing up and would wake in the middle of the night singing a new tune. Early efforts had her singing in Catholic school choir but at home she drank up the vocal influences of Barbara Streisand, Linda Ronstadt, Karen Carpenter, Donna Summer, Gloria Estefan, Janis Ian, Janis Joplin, Pat Benetar, Heart, Bonnie Raitt, Nancy Wilson, Ella Fitzgerald, Sarah Vaughan, among many others. In the late 70's to early 80's, with a love for music being foremost in her mind, she exercised her vocal cords on just about every style of music; 70's & 80's classic rock, pop, country, jazz, blues, contemporary Christian, and even a few classical arias. In the early 80's she sang in a few hometown bands performing top 40 to disco to punk rock covers. From the late 80's through early 90's she stayed closer to home mainly focusing on leading worhip and contemporary Christian music through several prominent Southern California mega-churches. After a move to the sleepy town of Maher and later, Montrose in Western Colorado, Yvonne intially continued with worship leading and contemporary Christian music but took a quite natural turn toward songwriting. The solitude and slower pace of Western Colorado provided inspiration for developing and honing her songwriting abilities which began with songs of a more spiritual, worshipful nature. Around 2004, Yvonne began to reach out again toward secular music playing solo gigs and singing/playing with The David Starr Band (Cedaredge, CO). This period brought forth the bulk of original material on her debut CD entitled MOSAIC. MOSAIC is a lyric-driven effort featuring an eclectic mix of styles from contemporary Country to hints of adult contemporary, rock, jazz and blues ... Enjoy!
