Isaiah "Zayy" Hicks was born October 13, 1990 at St. Francis Medical Center. As a child Zayy developed a love for music and poetry from his father and mother respectively. Through his music Zayy found a way to express his perspectives on the every day life of the average african-american male being raised in the city of Compton,CA. Zayy's music and lyrics continued to mature as he matured, and in high school he made a firm decision to pursue a career in the entertainment industry after meeting Dwayne Coleman and forming the hip-hop group NerdStar's. The Nerdstar's participated in school events, winning talent shows and Apollo nights, while also performing at other venues such as the "Artist of the Year Competition" held at The Terrace in Pasadena. Though the NerdStars did not place in the "Artist of the Year" competition they continued to build a dedicated fan base around California. In March of 2010, the NerdStar's broke up due to differences in career goals, but remained friends. Zayy continued to pursue a career as a solo artist doing mixtape "freestyles" and creating a buzz amongst his peers. In April of 2010, Zayy enrolled at Musician's Institute in Hollywood,Ca and continues to explore new ways to create great music and market it to the public. Zayy's musical sound can be likened to that of Drake, Kanye West, Pharrel, Lupe Fiasco, and Black Eyed Peas which gives him a wide range to establish a huge fan base. Zayy's future career goals are to become an established hip-hop recording/performing/touring artist. From there, Zayy plans to establish a clothing line and endorsement deal with Creative Recreation shoes to compliment the clothing. Zayy also plans to create fragrances to sell for both men and women. After Zayy establishes a solid name for himself in the entertainment industry, he plans to open several recording studios for children in underprivileged areas of his home town who are serious about music and want to pursue a career in the entertainment industry.
