Soaked in the gritty funk and steamy haze of Modern Blues, The Blue News stacks their Blues foundation with layers of Alternative Rock, R&B, Soul and Roots.  Formed in 2006 by singer-songwriter Brent Orndorff, The Blue News has generated a rapidly growing fan base, a solid reputation and an impressive brag list of accomplishments. To date the band has released five studio albums, released four songs on the Rock Band video game series, placed numerous songs on national television, won Blues awards, and will soon announce song placements in yet another high-profile music video game. 

Drawing upon inspiration as far back as the great Otis Redding to current chart toppers Kings of Leon and The Black Keys, The Blue News’ defining quality is the rough yet tender ache in Orndorff’s vocals and the exceptional songwriting that beckons from each track.  Joined by songwriting partner Dusty Richardson on drums and percussion, The Blue News creates a soulful sound that’s a refreshing change from the cookie cutter music found on most airwaves today.
